Are you translating from Old Norse or from an earlier translation into English (or another language)? The sense often seems rather alien to the original ON, for instance in your version of st. 15:
ReplyDelete"A leader should listen to his followers, be charitable
and show courage in times of trouble.
All a mans life he should strive to have a positive outlook,
and always be ready to contribute and do his part."
Lines 2 and 3 are tolerable translations of the original, but I don't see the source of phrases like "charitable" or "ready to contribute and do his part" at all.
